Repeat Prescriptions

To avoid running out of your medication, please make sure you phone for an appointment at least two weeks before you need your new prescription.

All patients must be seen by the doctor every three months for repeat medication, unless otherwise indicated and documented by a doctor in the patients notes. This is in line with the Government’s Primary Health Care Policy, keeping people well and educated about their health status.

In exceptional circumstances, where an urgent prescription is requested by telephone, a short prescription of one week may be given at the doctor’s discretion. The patient MUST make an appointment to see the doctor within a week, so that the doctor can ensure that there are no changes in the patient’s health status which would render current medication dangerous or ineffective.
