Shortage of Influenza (Flu) Vaccines

Unfortunately, PHARMAC has announced we are now experiencing a nationwide shortage of Influenza vaccine.

Due to this the vaccine is only permitted to be given to priority groups until notified otherwise.

Priority groups who CAN still be vaccinated are:

  • Those 65years and serious comorbidities
  • Pregnant women
  • People with SEVERE Asthma, Heart Disease, Diabetes and other serious health conditions making them susceptible to influenza
  • Children aged 4 and under with SERIOUS respiratory illness or past hospital admission for Bronchiolitis etc

A past classification of a chronic illness (e.g. Asthma) WITHOUT regular medical reviews or prescribed medication is not classified as SEVERE.

Please contact the Amuri Health Centre Nurses if you want to discuss whether you fit the Criteria.
