Meningococcal Vaccines
Meningococcal vaccines are strongly recommended for all teenagers and young adults aged between 13 years and 25 years who will be staying in boarding school hostel accommodation, halls of residence or military barracks.
They are also funded for those patients with certain high-risk health conditions and are part of the childhood immunisation programme.
Please phone the health centre on 03 315 6328 to arrange an appointment or talk to the practice nurse for more information.
There are 2 vaccines available to cover the most common strains,
Bexero (Meningococcal B) and Menactra or (Meningococcal ACWY) both are fully funded for those who meet the criteria above.
For those patients not eligible for the funded vaccine or are unsure if they are eligible, please call us on 03 315 6328 to discuss with the practice nurse if this vaccine is right for you and the possible cost involved.
